wannesalon skug + fluc present: SOMNA + Hot Air + DJ Marcelle
Mittwoch, 10. NovemberSOMNA began as a trio in 2004.
Its first two realeases (2005:”Hyperréalité”; 2007:”Somna”) were Post-Rock-oriented, ambient, with minimalist melodies, complex rhythms and structures.
Then the band had the opportunity to experiment improvisation on stage with poets from SLAM TRIBU. This became a side project called SPELL DOSA.
In 2009 SOMNA was chosen by the french Jazz association DJAZ 51 to particitate to a one year workshop with the danish improviser HASSE POULSEN (Das Kapital, Speeq, Sound of Choice)
Those experiences made SOMNA´s music reveal itself, becoming much more aggressive and tense, as well as spontaneous and colourful.
In February 2010, SOMNA recorded its third cd after a two week tour in France and Spain.
From the basic trio formula Guitar/Bass/Drums, SOMNA is using the light and shade and the extreme tense that Noise and Free Improvisation can bring into colourful and captivating compositions.
The energy and chaos, as well as the trippy atmospheres that come out from their music definitely has to be experienced live.
