POMA (ES)
Poma is a project born from the idea of using free improvisation within a composed
context. Thus, the musicians immerse themselves in improvisation which occurs within
pre-established structures or even together with previously composed music. The
essential principle being to set as few restrictions as possible on the performers.
“Music for violin, cello, clarinet and electric guitar” is Poma’s international full
length debut release and is released on the MOOZAK special interest sublabel KAZOOM.
Limited to only 50 copies, this KAZOOM release comes on double sided black graphite
discs in hand painted digipacks.
Elena Vázquez - violin
Ingrid Kuntzmann - cello
Ximo Tarín - clarinet
Paco Jordi - electric guitar and compositions
Recorded in Barcelona, July 7th, 2010
POMA - BIOGRAPHY
Paco Jordi was born in Girona (Spain) in 1981. He is a composer and guitarist, who has
played guitar with pop rock bands like Brazzaville (with David Brown- Beck´s ex-sax
player) and Holland Park amongst others.
He studied guitar and trombone at the Barcelona Conservatory and composition with the
renowned Catalan composer Albert Llanas. He has composed for string orchestra, solo
instruments and chamber music.
His “Piece for 12 strings” was one of the three works selected in the composition
contest “Sincronic” organised by Phonos Foundation.
LE COWBOY (US/AT)
If Meaghan Burke (cello), Bernd Klug (double bass), and David Schweighart (drums) were to release their full power in the trio “le cowboy,” they would likely end up with a graveyard of (lovingly) destroyed instruments.Fortunately, they don’t.Le cowboy
lets its story unfold slowly - a story of a music on the brink of self-destruction, a music that simmers, stutters, scratches against its own boundaries in the constant drama of expectation of a climax which is never to be indulged.
