UH FEST - NEW RADICAL MUSIC FROM HUNGARY
Montag, 3. Dezembermit:
13 LIVE musicians such as GÁBOR LÁZÁR, 12z, SHIP ARRIVING TOO LATE TO SAVE A DROWNING BITCH, SPLATTER and BALÁZS PÁNDI DUO
UH Fest (also known as Ultrasound or Ultrahang) is a not for profit international music festival started in 2000, it has a diverse taste, would not ever label its child being experimental or electronic, prefers non-conform sound strategies, playfulness and serious sound art, loud noise and silence equally.
UH Fest has always put special emphasis on presenting future local talents on its events. The excitement of finding some intriguing piece of music in a hidden corner of the internet, searching out for the artists and seeing how they perform in a live context is simply unparalleled. More recently though, it doesn’t even have to venture into extensive search sessions, as adventurous music started flourishing in Hungary. So UH Fest decided to bring a showcase of future generation of forward thinking Hungarian artists spanning across an array of genres to Fluc.

GÁBOR LÁZÁR (HU)

Gábor plays algorithms, giving a voice to the screeching melodies of the CPU’s tortured soul. This is computer music at its purest, with an obvious devotion to the unique aesthetics of cold logic as musical instrument. Now that laptops have became commonplace onstage, it’s easy to undervalue a performance which is based solely on software algorithms, but make no mistake: Gábor’s show will rewire your brain and overwrite your presumptions.
12z (HU)

Improvised and experimental, 12z takes you on a theme-based jam flavoured with psychedelia and gothic hauntology. The trio´s music is pulsating and corporeal, disintegrating into shattered melodies and cinematic drones from the golden era of euro exploitation. Guitar, drums, and electronica, with additional shades of kalimba, violin, and non-identifiable objects, 12z is fresh and in constant search for undiscovered musical terrains.
SHIP ARRIVING TOO LATE TO SAVE A DROWNING BITCH(HU)

Hailing from South Hungary’s music capital, Pécs, The Drowning Bitch - as the band is known in short form - represent its young and daring new generation of experimental musicians that look ahead, never behind. The band provide an opposite perspective from compatriots 12z, also performing this evening; this improv trio manipulates its own hypnotic and repetitive sounds and monotonous structures, standing closer to the origin of noise and primordial rhythms. With a notable absence of drums, the group´s continuous soundscapes are led by loop-like noiserock guitars, then set into colorful and haunting motion by pedals, electronica, and human voices.
SPLATTER (HU)

Half of Budapest’s synth primitivist masterhead dj duo Küss Mich - and member of the UH Fest crew, for that matter. Küss Mich’s fierce, raw and outsider parties of minimal electronics, synth punk and sick italo gained them a microcult status in the Hungarian capital. As for Splatter’s status, rumour has it, that he is the party killer half of the duo with his uncomfortable fusion of raw minimal synth beats, no wave sounds and giallo tinged mutant disco vibes. In other words, he has a focused enthusiasm towards the music he plays, yet he’s adventurous to the extent of leaving perplexed audiences behind.
BALÁZS PÁNDI & Zlatko Baracskai (HU)

An institutinon on its own, the second most wanted non-academic (though academically trained) music export figure after Attila Csihar. An underground media personality, a culture activist, a promoter, someone active in anything which is true and comes from heart. Also he is a great cook and hosteller, the most loved grandson of his grandma. He prefers still water, and his instrument is the drum.
