Transcultural Emancipation

Außeninstallationen der Artists in Residence von Bundeskanzleramt und KulturKontakt Austria
Lina Albrikiene
Zun Ei Phyu
Olson Lamaj

DJ: Caetano Carvalho & Female Obssesion

Lina Albrikiene, `H - 2A. Tanegashima. 17 Mar 2017´, 2017, Billboard
One month ago I have been travelling around Japan. The last week of my trip I spent in Yakushima island. The day I arrived I found out that the next day will be the rocket launching in the neighborhood island Tanegashima. On the 17 th of March at 10:20 Japan Standard Time the rocket H-2A launched from the Space Center Tanegashima bringing the Japanese spy satellite to track the North Korean and Chinese military movements as tensions run high in the region.
Here are two pictures from the same photo negative. In the first diptych the second image is from the end of the photo negative so called defected image. It reminds the space and the fragment of the sun.
In the second diptych - the last image is from the beginning of the film roll. The white stain is the mark from the sticker with the number, which photo laboratories are using to denote the film, although in this case you can´t see the number because of the negative scanning program. The number is 2058. The first impression when I saw this number was the connection with the time. It is the future - 2058. So, both second pictures from the diptychs hardly have the recognition.
The day the exhibition will take launch at Fluc will be 17th of May - 3 months after the rocket launched…

Zun Ei Phyu, Harmonizing, Paper Cutting, Photography for the billboard by the artist, 2017, Billboard
When we are communicating with people, it is very important to understand each other very well. As language alone is not enough for harmonizing the communication and understanding, also body gesture and facial expression are also playing important roles. It is very interesting for me to guess what people are talking by looking their expression and gesture as I cannot understand their language. So to be in good relationship and communication, harmonizing the flow of gestures and expression are very important in my point of view.

Zun Ei Phyu (* 1984): “I started my artist life when I was 10 years old as my parent let me learn basic art theory and practice under artist Sandar Khine. She becomes a good mentor throughout my artist life until now. After graduating from Medical University as Doctor, my life become changing a lot even in my artwork creation. I did more experimental artworks and I became so much attached to paper cutting and installation with shadow and lighting. I also did public installation which can interact with many people. For me, Art is the platform to interact, exchange experiences and make conversation with people.”
I had been participating over 10 abroad exhibitions at Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and Indonesia from 2011-2016. And 2 solo exhibitions at Tokyo, Japan and Kuala Lumpure, Malaysia . I also participated in more than 20 groups´ exhibition in Myanmar including an exhibition at National Museum, Myanmar since 1999 till now.
I was selected as Young Talented Artist by Ion Orchard Singapore for Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2015. I was included in “Myanmar Painting-from worship to self-imaging” Book by Evoheritage, Vietnam, as young female artist. I got Golden Price in Fukuoka Child Art Competition (1997).

Olson Lamaj, SHQIPE, 2007/2017, Photo on Etalbon/Billboard
It is a work made by the artist in a period of time when in the Balkan talks about the independence of Kosovo and about Albanian´s destinies. To see and to hear about this things and reflecting on the tradition and symbolism of the Eagle with two heads of the Albanian flag, Olson decided to illustrate the through digital photos montage on how he sees his beloved country. So he decides to photograph a turkey with two heads, referring to the symbol of double-headed eagle in the flag, but not as Albanians describe as a strong and brave eagle that flies free to the heaven but as a eagle of peeling and procumbent. An eagle that is not threatening nobody but only reduced mercy in a way that she don´t have the force to leave nor to fly. This tragic illustration of our artist comes from his personal reflection about the wars and unrest that Albanian people have been through years and simultaneously political situation of Albania with Europe, a country that he intends to admire but which in the eyes of Europe looks like a nomadic people
Olson Lamaj (* 1985) is an Albanian artist living and working in Tirana. His work investi¬gates social and political issues related both to contemporary life in Albania and to more universal and timeless systems of meaning extending beyond immediate conditions. As one of the co-founders of MIZA Gallery in Tirana, Lamaj´s own experience as an artist has been related to the establishment of artistic spaces and institutions in Tirana. Lamaj´s projects emphasize the semiotic oversaturation - and the myste¬rious, almost mystical qualities - of objects and images related to political ideologies of various kinds. His artworks function as a collective mythography of the present, laying the groundwork for the projection and cre¬ation of new myths.externer link www.olsonlamaj.com
