Commoning Care & Collective Power: Childcare Commons and the Micropolitics of Municipalism in Barcelona (German, English and Spanish)
Book presentation and conversation with Manuela Zechner, feminist researcher, facilitator and artist
Commoning Care & Collective Power traces the twin genealogies of childcare commons and the micropolitics of municipalism in Barcelona. It shows how grassroots movements engaged new institutional experiments after Spain´s 15M movement, marked by struggles for social reproduction and a new feminist politics. In a short input, Manuela Zechner will present the challenges and potentials of feminist self-organised childcare using the example of Barcelona. We look forward to numerous contributions and questions.
Manuela Zechner is a feminist researcher, facilitator and cultural worker. Her current focus is on struggles across care and ecology, as she coproduces the Earthcare podcast and is part of the emergent Common Ecologies school.

Workers! (2018) is the cinematic result of a collaboration between the art platform Collective, HER Film and SCOT-PEP, a sex worker-led organisation in Scotland. The film’s collective approach is intended to serve as a tool for engaging with sex work and conveys the polarising positions that have dominated feminist engagement with the topic in the past and present.
Petra Bauer is Head of Research and Education in Architecture and Visual Arts at the Royal Institute of Art. She explores the potential of feminist collaboration through artistic methods. Her work is dedicated to women’s self-organisation and resistance in history and the present.
Mat et les gravitantes (Mat and her Mates)

In a squat in Nantes, Mat and her friends organise a workshop on gynaecological self-examination to “look at and get to know themselves”. A vivid and intimate portrait of a young woman who questions to question the relationship to herself, love and sexuality and the connection between all three from a personal and collective perspective (Camille Kaiser).
Pauline Penichout After completing her bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Penichout has been working at the Grande École and Film and Television School Fémis since 2016. MAT AND HER MATES (2020) is her graduation film

Commoning Care & Collective Power zeichnet die doppelte Genealogie von Kinderbetreuungs-Commons und der Mikropolitik des Kommunalismus in Barcelona nach. Sie zeigt, wie Basisbewegungen nach der spanischen 15M-Bewegung neue institutionelle Experimente in Angriff nahmen, die von Kämpfen um soziale Reproduktion und einer neuen feministischen Politik geprägt waren. In einem kurzen Input wird Manuela Zechner die Herausforderungen und Potentiale feministischer selbstorganisierter Kinderbetreuung am Beispiel Barcelonas vorstellen. Wir freuen uns auf zahlreiche Beiträge und Fragen.
Manuela Zechner ist feministische Forscherin, Moderatorin und Kulturarbeiterin. Ihr aktueller Schwerpunkt liegt auf Kämpfen zwischen Sorge und Ökologie, da sie den Earthcare-Podcast koproduziert und Teil der entstehenden Common Ecologies-Schule ist.

Workers! (2018) ist das filmische Ergebnis einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Kunstplattform Collective, HER Film und SCOT-PEP, einer von Sexarbeiterinnen geführten Organisation in Schottland. Der kollektive Ansatz des Films soll als Werkzeug für die Zusammenarbeit mit Sexarbeiterinnen dienen und zeigt die polarisierenden Positionen auf, welche die feministische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Sexarbeit in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart dominiert haben.
Petra Bauer ist Leiterin der Forschungs- und Ausbildungsabteilung für Architektur und bildende Kunst am Royal Institute of Art. Sie erforscht das Potenzial der feministischen Zusammenarbeit mit künstlerischen Methoden. Ihre Arbeit ist der Selbstorganisation und dem Widerstand von Frauen in Geschichte und Gegenwart gewidmet.

In einem besetzten Haus in Nantes organisieren Mat und ihre Freundinnen einen Workshop zur gynäkologischen Selbstuntersuchung, um “sich selbst zu betrachten und kennenzulernen”. Ein lebendiges und intimes Porträt einer jungen Frau, die das Verhältnis zu sich selbst, zu Liebe und Sexualität und die Verbindung zwischen allen dreien aus persönlicher und kollektiver Perspektive hinterfragt (Camille Kaiser).
Pauline Penichout Seit ihrem Bachelor-Abschluss in Mathematik 2016 arbeitet Penichout bei der Grande École und Film- und Fernsehschule Fémis. MAT ET LES GRAVITANTES (2020) ist ihr Abschlussfilm.
